What does my metabolic score mean?
What does my metabolic score mean?
If someone asked you if “unleaded gas” was a good fuel what would your answer be? Your best response would be “OOPS, wrong question.” Why? It totally depends on the vehicle.
A vehicle designed to use unleaded gas would do fine on that fuel. However, a truck designed to run on diesel fuel would do poorly on unleaded fuel. This same analogy works with our bodies.
Your “rate” of metabolism is the process of determining the best blend of fuel (in this case proteins, carbohydrates and fats) for the human body. In 1919 Dr. Pottenger published a paper that established the autonomic nervous system as the basis for metabolic differences and compared the effect of various nutrients on it.
In the1950s, Dr. Page and Dr. Bieler developed the concept of endocrine types and described the effects various foods and nutrients had on this system of the body. Dr. Roger Williams (biochemist and discoverer of vitamin B5) was later involved in the research involving metabolic typing.
Based on your score on the metabolic questionnaire, you are either a Profile 1, Profile 2 or Profile 3.
Profile 1
Only about 5% of the population is a Profile 1. This is someone who burns their food slowly and who can easily gravitate toward soda, candies and sugary foods.
The key for this profile is to eat more complex carbs and “graze” throughout the day (many small meals instead of 3 large meals).
Profile 2
This is by far the most common profile, about 60 – 65% of the population. People in this profile burn their food quickly (even if they are slow movers). When they consume too many carbohydrates, they appear to crash. They often keep themselves going based on sheer willpower. Many children and adults suffering from ADD/ADHD symptoms are profile 2’s.
If someone is a profile 2 they will do better with some form of red meats (even blood type A’s and AB’s), as their bodies are often deficient in purines (an amino acid more easily utilized in other people). This means if you are a profile 2, you can eat meat regardless of your blood type.
The key for this profile is to eat more protein and fats (healthy sources). They rarely do well on vegetarian diets. It is best for them to eat 3 meals and have 2 snacks – skipping meals does not work for them.
Profile 3
About 30-35% of the population is profile 3. This person does best with a balance of proteins, carbohydrates and fats. For this person, the blood type sources are more critical. For this person, food is not usually their biggest issue and they seem to find it fairly easy to make dietary changes. When this is not the case, digestion and/or emotions are bigger contributors to the problem than the actual food.
The key for this profile is to eat a balance of proteins, carbohydrates and fats.

If I think I have Candida, what can I do?
If I think I have Candida, what can I do?
The most common contributors to Candida include:
- Antibiotic use (follow any round of antibiotics with probiotics).
- Birth control use
- Food allergies
- Chronic fatigue
For education, start with Candida Made Simple.
If you are a blood type A or AB, it is recommended that you start with Yeast Max and add Flora Synergy.
If you are a Blood type B or O, it is recommended that you start with Enzyme #17 and our Liver Support.
It is recommended that you be on the Candida diet, which means eliminating sugar (most important), foods with sugar, diary, fermented foods, alcohol, and dried fruits.

Re: Enzyme Questionaire; I scored high on several enzymes, what do I do?
On the Enzyme Questionaire, I scored high on several enzymes, what do I do?
If you have any heartburn or indigestion, it is essential you start with Enzyme #12 (usually 2-4/meal – increase amount if needed, until symptoms are gone).
If you are in doubt as to which digestive enzyme to start with, it is recommended that you start with Enzyme #30 (2-3/meal), which is an all-purpose digestive enzyme. However, if you have heartburn or indigestion, then Enzyme #12 is where you start.
If you are really lacking in energy and a smoothie does not work for you, then the Enzyme Combo E is best for you (2-3/meal).
If you primarily deal with constipation, insomnia, history of gall stones or headaches at the back of the neck, then you could benefit from Enzyme #11.
If you primarily deal with allergies, carb cravings, looser stools, cravings for cold liquids or foods, or have wheat / dairy intolerances, then you could benefit from Enzyme #14.
If you primarily deal with dry skin, dry hair, loss of hair, and/or hormone imbalances, then you could benefit from Enzyme #2.
If you are part of our Breakthrough Team, then you can work directly with Dr. Cheryl to determine your best enzyme protocol.
Normal dose for digestive enzymes is 2-3/meal. If any symptoms persist, you can do more until the symptoms subside. If you have found the right enzyme for you, the difference will be noticeable and significant.

What is a “healing reaction?”
What is a “healing reaction?”
Sometimes the body will begin to cleanse and will manifest various symptoms. These symptoms can range from
- Flu-like symptoms
- Fatigue
- Body aches
- Headaches
- Mood swings
These symptoms are common the first three days of a cleanse – they usually subside by day four or five. They are especially common during Candida and/or parasite cleanses. In this case they usually reflect Candida or parasite die-off.
If the symptoms persist, check with your health care provider.

What is the relationship between blood type and disease?
What is the relationship between blood type and disease?
Disease is simply a label that indicates the body is out of balance. When a disease is present, you must work with your health care provider.
Over the years, certain health challenges seem to correlate more with the various blood types. One of the most powerful antigens in the human body is the one that determines your blood type. These various antigens are so powerful, that when operating efficiently they represent a key part of the immune system. When you immune system senses a foreign element (i.e., bacteria, virus, fungus, etc.), it looks to the blood type antigen to know if the element is friend or foe.
Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo in his book Eat Right for Your Blood Type has done excellent work on this topic.
Here is a general summary of those correlations and possible suggestions.
Blood Type O
- Stronger digestive system (best avoiding sugar, wheat and dairy)
- Stronger immune system
- Tends not to do well with dental and chemical toxicity (liver support recommended)
- Tends towards asthma, excess mucus, and inflammation (avoiding grains, sugar, dairy and night shades – potatoes, peppers, eggplant – helps)
- Exercise (especially intense workouts) is key for de-stressing
- Does not usually do well with soy, especially if thyroid conditions exist
- Do well with green drinks Barlean’s Greens
- Do well with glyconutrient support
- Do well with liver support
Blood Type A
- Tend to adapt fairly well to environmental challenges
- Tend to be more sensitive
- Tend to have weaker digestive systems: Enzyme Questionnaire
- Tend to “live in their heads”
- Rhythmic exercise is helpful (i.e., dance, rebounding, yoga, biking) more than intense workouts
- Candida is very common – recommend: Yeast/Can, Candida Made Simple
- Pineapple is great to increase intestinal mobility
- Essential fatty acids can help reduce fluid retention: Barlean’s Essential Fatty Acids
- Green drinks do well to support the liver: Barlean’s Greens
- Flower essences can help with emotional sensitivities: Emotional Questionnaire
Blood Type B
- Tend to have stronger immune systems
- Tend to adapt well to different environmental conditions
- Tend to have a balanced nervous system
- Less vulnerable to many disease states unless they have had a lot of dental work or surgeries
- Tend not to do well with corn or chicken (especially chicken)
- Parasites tend to be common
- Tend to well on green drinks: Barlean’s Greens
Blood Type AB
- Can be more like blood type A’s or B’s
- Tends to have more hormonal imbalances: Hormone support, Fatty acids, Enzyme #2
- Tends to have a sensitive digestive system: Enzyme Questionnaire
- Common to have Candida or parasites: Candida Questionnaire
- Tends not to do well on chicken
- Does not do well skipping meals
- Carbonated beverages tend to impact digestion.

How do my stress levels impact my health?
How do my stress levels impact my health?
The most overlooked source of disease is stress. We can eat well, take supplements, exercise, drink water and still be unhealthy if we have a heavy load of stress.
Stress over-stimulates the adrenals. The adrenal glands sit on top of the kidneys and produce adrenalin, which is our fight or flight hormone. When adrenaline is pumping, cholesterol is elevated, digestion is slowed and elimination (bowel movements) is slowed.
Overuse of the adrenals has led to one of the most over-looked undiagnosed problems in America – hypo-adrenia. Hypo-adrenia or adrenal exhaustion can manifest as:
· Low blood sugar
· Chronic tiredness
· Allergies
· Arthritis or joint pain
· Poor stamina
· Inability to handle stress
· Muscle weakness
· Thinning hair and grooved fingernails
· Salt and sugar cravings
· Low body temperature
· Constipation
· Depression
Under stress the body consumes enormous amounts of protein, minerals and vitamin B and C. When your life has more stress (which by the way is a thought process not an event), it is crucial you increase:
- Protein: Smoothie Recipe, Enzyme Combo E
- Minerals: Food-based Vitamin/Mineral
- Vitamin B and C: Food-based Vitamin/Mineral
- Exercise

Where can I best start to lose weight?
Where can I best start to lose weight?
Your first step is making the decision that you desire to take care of yourself. It is also important to get rid of the concept of dieting. Permanent weight loss is about lifestyle changes. The following are resources that we recommend:
- Loose Weight, Never to Find it Again CD
- Eat according to your blood type and eliminate the big “no-no” foods (i.e., sugar, white flour, processed foods, simple carbs)
- Eat regular meals – don’t skip meals, especially breakfast
- Cut out diet sodas (research shows that people who consume diet sodas weigh more than those who don’t)
- Drink lots of pure water
- Move – find some type of exercise that works for you
- Digest your food – Enzyme Questionnaire
- Recommended reading: Never Say Diet by Chantel Hobbs
- Eat low glycemic foods: The Food Puzzle
Create a plan that works for you and then do the plan each day. Be honest with yourself, forgive yourself when you “miss,” stay committed and pray (God can give you that extra encouragement to stay the course).

I scored high on needing several flower essences. Now what do I do?
I scored high on needing several flower essences, now what do I do?
If you are high on three to five essences, you can order a “blend” from the Lifestyle for Health office. This blend allows you to have the benefits of each of the flowers while not having to purchase multiple bottles of product.
If the issues reflecting each of your high scoring flower essences are common issues for you, you might prefer to buy the concentrated essences and make your own blend.
To make a flower essence blend, you will need:
· 1 or 2 oz glass bottle with dropper lid
· Purified water
· Flower essence concentrate (found from Lifestyle for Health or health food stores): Flower Essences
· To make a blend,
o Use 10 drops of each flower essence blend in a 1 oz bottle, 20 drops in a 2 oz bottle
o Fill with purified water
o Sucus (shake bottle by striking on the palm of the opposite hand holding the bottle).
o If you are not going to use it immediately, add some St. John’s Wort (essential oil) or alcohol (about 1/8 tsp of either) to it as a preservative.
o Use a blend for only one person – do not share.
· Any flower essence (blend or concentrate) can be taken up to every 15 minutes in acute situations
· Can be used with children and with pets

Do you have a good "Smoothie" recipe?
How can I make a smoothie for me?
Smoothie Recipe
8 oz. water
4 ice cubes, optional
1-2 TBL essential fatty acids
1-2 scoops protein powder
¼ - to 1 tsp glyconutrient powder (essential carbohydrates)
1. Blend in blender
2. Do not add fruit or fruit juice if food combining or in weight loss phase
3. Do not use bananas if in weight loss phase
4. Possible additions: yogurt, ground flax seed, green powders, liquid minerals, natural sweetener)
Notes
Fatty Acids
- Recommend Barlean’s Flaxseed Oil for most people
- If excess weight is in the mid-section and/or experiencing hormone imbalances, we recommend Barlean’s Fish oil
- If profile 2, use the higher amount of oil
- If profile 1 or 3, use the smaller amount of oil
- If the smoothie ever tastes oily, or you have any nausea consuming it, add Enzyme #2 for fat digestion
Protein Powder
- Blood type Os and Bs tend to do best on whey or egg white protein sources. I recommend FitSmart Fiber 35 if you are in weight loss phase and need to add extra fiber to your diet. For an all purpose, more affordable whey or egg protein, I recommend Healthy ‘N Fit.
- Blood type A’s and AB’s tend to do best on egg white. We have seen these blood types also do well on the FitSmart Fiber 35
- If there is any “chalky” sensation or increase in constipation, add Enzyme #11 for protein digestion.
Glyconutrients
- Recommend Glyconutrient Supplement Powder
- If a person is sensitive, start with the lower dose.
- For the average person, start with 1 tsp
- If there is any “sleepiness” after a smoothie or any meal, add Enzyme #14 for carbohydrate digestion

How can I use coconut oil topically as part of my skin care program?
How can I use coconut oil topically as part of my skin care program?
The skin is best supported via good nutrition, exercise, water and water-based skin care. Since oil is not generally a good topical recommendation, what allows coconut oil to work?
Coconut oil is most like the human skin oil. It does not seal off the skin as mineral oil does. Coconut oil is great for cooking and baking. It is also excellent for topical applications.
Helpful ways to use coconut oil: Barleans Coconut Oil
- Apply just the oil on the skin at night – it absorbs quickly
- Combine the coconut oil with After Shave Lotion for a wonderful body “lotion” that truly helps smooth the skin without drying it out
- Apply to the hair at night for a deep hydrating treatment

How can you be a professional and use network marketing products?
How can you be a professional and use network marketing products?
I had a very negative impression of network marketing for years. Once I had used products from an MLM company that actually worked and produced results that I could not get with other products, I had to re-examine my assessment of some of these companies.
I realized that the negative reputation (for me) was due to HOW network marketing was done, not the mechanism itself.
When a restaurant provides a poor meal, I don’t stop eating out - - - however, I might not go back to that particular place. The same is true of network marketing – you need to carefully choose who you do business with! Not only is the company important, but so are all of the folks on the team above you – be sure to do complete due diligence before joining any company. Do no less than you would do if you were getting ready to invest $100,000 in buying a “regular” business or franchise! While you may have a much smaller financial investment, your dreams, time and reputation are on the line, so choose your team and company wisely!
A company can be good or bad – regardless of the way it markets its products. I don’t like going to car dealerships, but I do enjoy driving a car. I have actually experienced quality car dealerships and realize that “dealerships” are not the issue, it is the people involved at some dealerships.
Many network marketing companies are based on a premise of making money quickly regardless of product quality. I in no way support those types of ventures. When a product is unique and requires a more educational sales approach than can be found in a retail outlet, then network marketing can be an ideal option.
Some people prefer to have time freedom in their lifestyle. Being employed or having a large organization of employees can reduce that time freedom. When a person desires to have a flexible schedule with the tax benefits of owning their own business while also maintaining time freedom, network marketing can be an ideal option.
The key is that the products have to work, they must be of high quality and the person looking at this option must be looking for the benefits that networking can provide. In reality, network marketing is not for everyone.
The company and your upline team must also provide legitimate training and support to help you develop and build your business. Like all businesses, this type of business requires “real work”, specific skills and the discipline to do what is needed to build a business. Don’t buy-in to the hype that it “just takes a few people and you’ll get rich quick”. If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is!
Network marketing is only one part of my “career portfolio.” I also enjoy being an author, speaking, consulting and taking care of myself. For me, network marketing, the way it is done by Forest and me, gives me all these benefits and it still allows me to pursue the other interests that I have. For us, it has been a great experience and business.

What about negative press around any of your recommended products/companies?
What about negative press around any of your recommended products/companies?
Negative press is how newspapers and magazine are sold and it is how TV shows are advertised. Negative press reflects how the media does business. Negative press often reflects a specific “agenda” – so do you homework and find out if that agenda is in your best interests.
Press should not be totally ignored, but it should certainly be taken with a “grain of salt.” This is true in politics, health, beauty and business. Be sure you research any issue and understand both sides of the story so that you can make the best decision for you.
Our business has been built on my personal reputation for producing results working with quality products and companies. I stand behind the integrity and reputations of all of the companies and products that I use and recommend.

What do you like about network marketing?
What do you like about network marketing?
I love having time freedom and all of the benefits of being a business owner without a large number of employees.
I love being able to work anywhere, as I can take my network marketing, consulting and coaching business anywhere I can take my laptop, cell phone and me.
I love to travel and all of my travel is related to my business. This makes my travel a tax deduction.
I have met many new friends from around the world and enjoy building relationships wherever I go.
Best of all I get to mentor a team of people without charging them the high dollars I had to charge in the clinic. Seeing our team grow, learn and help others do the same is very rewarding for Forest and me.
